HAND ME SOME CARE, PLEASE
Probiotic cleanser, bright skin moisturiser, scalp scrub, foot cream, under-eye mask…Did we miss anything on your dressing table? Amidst all the beauty products for your face, hair, lips, eyes and feet, and all those make-up essentials, what is conspicuous by its absence is the bottle or jar of cream for our hands.
Most of us fail to recognise the fact that our hands need as much care as our face and hairdo. And I am not talking about handwashing here. Sure, we do wash our hands quite frequently. The pandemic has more than doubled the frequency and duration of the handwashing routine and has added hand wash and sanitiser to the water-and-soap combo.
PROPER CARE
But, unfortunately, that does not qualify as the proper care for hands as far as their beauty, softness and ageless appeal are concerned. Especially when we treat it to all kinds of work – from tapping at the keyboard to washing clothes and utensils with strong detergents and cleaning liquids and scrubs, cutting and chopping, handling hot water and chemical agents, and exposing them to the harsh rays of the sun and the adverse effects of pollution. Do the hands need another reason to demand some pampering?
The frequent handwashing and the use of sanitiser have just added themselves to the list. The new normal lifestyle wants us to be tough with the cleansing ritual for hands, but what about proper care? We assume they are stronger than we think, tougher than the face for wrinkles to sprout, and even more resilient than our feet to stay young and soft. But, very soon, our hands will take on a look that is old, dry to touch and hard to hold. And it is not hard to notice. Your gestures while speaking, your hands on the keypad and your handshake are dead giveaways. They need a beauty regime; they need to be spoiled; they need a plan to jump off the age train.
CARE YOUR CREAM
This does not mean finding cream and lathering it on anytime you want. You should keep an eye on the ingredients of the cream and how it works on the skin. They should moisturise and keep their hands smooth. Like glycerine and essential oils that attract water and lend a plumped look. The cream needs to be more than a rectifying agent, and provide you with an experience of indulgence and self-love. Love your hands, love the work you do with them, and love yourself.
That is the magic formula that Soilscents’ hand cream uses to counter all the environmental factors that dry up your hands. It contains shea butter, sunflower oil, avocado oil, glycerine, lavender and essential oils. Ylang-ylang flower is an exotic ingredient that works as an excellent cleanser with anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. It has a heady perfume that lingers on and raises the indulgence level high. Its unique combination of lavender, shea butter and avocado oil moisturises the skin and helps with its regeneration.
Yes, you need this concoction of natural ingredients to work its magic on the hands. The tasks lined up for you are no simple ones; you really should keep those hands young and strong and well-cared for.
