They say I have a warm heart, but that does not seem to be doing anything to protect my skin from these cold winter days and nights. My facial skin feels flaky, my hands are dry, my lips are cracked and my hair is too dull for any adjectives.
The wind has changed, I should have changed my beauty routine too. Because what worked for monsoon and summer would never work for winter. It calls for a total rehaul of tips, tricks and products. Yes, beauty care suddenly has become a big challenge.
To make this worse for me, a series of events and programmes are lined up in the coming days. A wedding here, a get-together there; time for several selfies and groupies, smiles and cheers. A dull and patchy face will not do, I know. There is no compromise on this. The skin needs to be well-hydrated or else get ready to face a dried version of yourself in the mirror. Moisturise your face and hands right after the bath.

Hot water is indeed tempting, but that alone will turn your skin dry and lifeless. Extremely hot showers and baths could leave patches and rashes on the skin too. Use lukewarm water and apply moisturiser immediately after the shower.
- Say no to chemical-rich products
Of course, you need cleansers, toners and moisturisers during winter, but do ensure they have natural ingredients. Some products can create problems with the skin’s natural moisture, turning it drier and duller than before.
